ClubMulwala reports strong financial result and continued community support
ClubMulwala’s Annual General Meeting on Sunday 18 October highlighted another successful year, with a $2,379,695 profit for the 2025–26 financial year, substantial community contributions and a continued focus on securing the Club’s long-term future.
Chairperson Des O’Meara described the result as an “outstanding effort”, with the Club maintaining similar revenue levels despite significant renovations and operational disruptions. The result follows the previous year’s record profit of $3,271,359.
Almost half a million dollars in community contributions
Supporting the local community remained central to the Club’s activities, with donations totalling $491,950 during the year.
This included a $100,000 contribution towards Yarrawonga Hospital’s new operating theatre, which opened in August 2025. These contributions reflect ClubMulwala’s ongoing commitment to supporting facilities, services and organisations that benefit the wider community.
Land acquisition remains a priority
Members received an update on the proposed purchase of the land on which ClubMulwala operates, which remains a key priority for the Board.
The Club currently operates under a lease arrangement with the RSL Sub-branch. Discussions about securing ownership are progressing positively, with RSL Victoria now involved in negotiations.
Mr O’Meara confirmed that major capital works would be delayed until a potential purchase could be negotiated.
“The Board is very hopeful this can be completed to the benefit of all parties,” he said.
Resort improvements and future plans
The meeting also highlighted ongoing investment in the ClubMulwala experience, including recently completed renovations to 10 resort accommodation rooms. A new staff room was expected to be finished within the following two weeks.
Further improvements are planned for early 2027, including renovations to the Club’s foyer and reception area. Major capital works remain subject to progress on the proposed land purchase.
Acknowledging leadership and service
Mr O’Meara welcomed recently appointed CEO Andrew Patterson and acknowledged his immediate contribution to sharpening operations and improving reporting accuracy.
He also paid tribute to outgoing CEO Alan Rowe for his 12 years of service.
Mr Patterson acknowledged the contributions of Mr Rowe and the Board throughout the financial year, highlighting the Club’s strong financial position and future opportunities.
“This club is one of the leading clubs in Southern NSW and is in a very strong financial position to take advantage of opportunities in the future,” Mr Patterson said.
“I am very fortunate to have inherited this role at the club with a strong and supportive Board.”
Board members re-elected
The AGM was attended by 27 members, comprising 14 RSL Sub-branch members and 13 associate members.
Three Board members whose three-year terms had expired—Vicky Tong, Philip Friedlieb and Paul Nieuwenhout—renominated and were re-elected unopposed. They join Colin Brennan, John Clarke, Michael Hogan, Damien Keel, Shane McBurnie and Des O’Meara on the Board.
ClubMulwala thanks its members, guests, staff and Board for their continued support throughout the year.
